The "Wheaton Woods Renewal" project is an ongoing project of a variety of agencies, coordinated by "Renew Montgomery", concentrating on the Wheaton Woods neighborhood.

Project
The "Renew Montgomery" Wheaton Woods Renewal starts in the summer of 2009 and will continue through the construction season of 2010. As other project features are considered timely and are funded, the project may continue into the forseeable future, perhaps until approximately 2014 or 2015.
Curbs, Gutters, Sidewalks
Curbs, gutters, and sidewalks are likely to be at least partially replaced or upgraded by the close of the 2009 construction season. Curbs at corners are to be made wheelchair accessible and compliant with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and comparable State and County laws and codes.
Street Resurfacing
Street repair and resurfacing is likely to start sometime in the construction season of 2010, after the work on curbs, gutters, and sidewalks is completed in the areas to be resurfaced.
Renew Montgomery
"Renew Montgomery" is a program operating under the auspices of the Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Transportation.

Since its inception in 1997, through 2008, a total of $48 million has been spent in 71 neighborhoods. Renew Montgomery has been successful in addressing the backlog of infrastructure repair needs in matured neighborhoods; coordinating repair activity with other programs within the department; and providing citizens with an opportunity to voice their neighborhood infrastructure concerns.
Although the majority of the work continues to center around the repair of sidewalk, curb, and, gutter, other department activities, such as improved bus stop access and the upgrading of traffic signs, have also been completed. Tree maintenance occurred upon resident request or where it was necessary to cut tree roots or remove trees in conjunction with sidewalk repair. Trees which were removed due to sidewalk construction were replaced with appropriate trees after obtaining input from the affected residents.

May
On May 21, at the general membership meeting of the Aspen Hill Civic Association, Inc. Mr Tom Pogue of the "Renew Montgomery" program announced the project (Brachfeld, Melissa, Wheaton Woods community will see infrastructure improvements, Montgomery Gazette, May 27, 2009, downloaded 2009 May 27).
August
Markings have appeared on Russett Road which seem to indicate a survey has taken place and that decisions have been made on how to proceed with street resurfacing.
August 9
Surface repairs and repaving have commenced on Russett Road.
August 17
Surface repairs and repaving have commenced on the northern end of Parkland Drive.
