The "Open Lunch" or "Summer Meals Program" came out of the Montgomery County Youth Initiative program of 2008.

History

"Free Lunch for Kids in Aspen Hill"

Georgian Forest Elementary School was open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Aug. 15 2008, serving any of the approximately 1,600 children who attend John F. Kennedy High School or its four feeder schools, including Georgian Forest. Please see also the Washington Post coverage. The program was open to all children 18 years of age and younger who live in the area.
